Lately, TV commercials send mixed messages. Companies try to find clever ways to say "you want this product" but end up saying something else. Here, I examine three commercials:

Sears Optical: dog days
Supposed to be "you want glasses"
Comes across as "you want to switch to premium dog food"

Sears Optical: raccoon
Supposed to be "you want glasses"
Comes across as "you want an exotic pet"

Pop-Tarts: dancer
Supposed to be "you want toaster pastries, which are made for fun"
Comes across as "toaster pastries will give your body the proportions of a super-deformed hydrocephalic freak"
