This panel on 'Health Data Interoperability & Data Standardization' will provide insights on key challenges and opportunities in developing and utilizing healthcare data, with speakers covering a spectrum of perspectives. From a rural hospitalist who will set the stage with the challenges facing practitioners and systems that deliver care to those most excluded from recent progress, an entrepreneur overcoming data heterogeneity to create an effective Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, a designer for mobile products in health care, innovating by using a new modality to interface with patients while negotiating a rapidly changing data environment, to a representative of payors, focused on reducing costs by improving health through innovative uses of data provided directly to patients. Among other themes, speakers will address the edge case for understanding the needs of healthcare data systems -- patient-provided information. Discussion will focus on opportunities to address key issues in meaningful ways, with a focus on collaboration between different participants in the system (patient, provider, technologist, hospitalist, payor).
