The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has caved in to pressure from the Executive, Parliament and the Public and agreed to revive the process of acquiring the Biometric Voter Registration kits. During a consultative meeting between the IEBC, and the two Principals; President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, a section of the Cabinet and Chairman of the Constitution Implementation Oversight Committee Abdikadir Mohamed, it was resolved that the government would directly engage friendly nations with the aim of procuring the BVR kits, in time for the March 4th 2013 polls. It was also agreed that the elections act 2011 be amended to give IEBC more time to register voters, as Francis Gachuri reports.
