The supplies I use most often are from Lion Brand, Red Heart, and Caron yarn. The tools I use are Fiskar and Westcott scissors. Susan Bates Tapestry Needle. Boye Crochet Hooks. The great thing with YouTube is watching video on demand at any time of the day. For those of you with mobile devices, you can crochet at the beach, park or during breaks from work. Some of the video available are hats, scarves, afghans, lace doilies, flowers, baby blankets, shawls, granny squares and stitches. Crochet can be compared to meditation and is a great way to stay focused. Please subscribe for new crochet video on YouTube.
A hat is a head covering. It can be worn for protection against the elements, ceremonial reason, religious reasons, safety, or as a fashion accessory. In the past, hats were an indicator of social status. In the military, they may denote nationality, branch of service, rank and/or regiment. Some hats have a protective function. As examples, the hard hat protects construction workers' heads from injury by falling objects, a sun hat shades the face and shoulders from the sun, and a Ushanka fur hat with fold-down ear-flaps keeps the head warm. Some hats are worn for ceremonial purposes, such as the mortarboard, which is worn during graduation ceremonies. Some hats are worn by members of a certain profession, such as the Toque worn by chefs. Some hats have a religious functions, such as the turban worn by Sikhs.
Crochet is a process of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials using a crochet hook. The name is taken from the French word "crochet", meaning small hook. These are made of materials such as metal, wood, or plastic and are manufactured commercially and produced in artisan workshops. The salient difference between crochet and knitting, beyond the implements used for their production, is that each stitch in crochet is completed before proceeding with the next one, while knitting keeps a large number of stitches open at a time.
