This is the educational side of Virtual Reality. This is a run-through of Bin Software's 6000 MOONS simulation (http://binsoftware.com/moons/). It's a quick explanation of the four main types of earth orbiting satellites and why they are the way they are. At about the 9 minute mark, they also show what kind of chaos China created when they tested satellite-killing technology on one of their own weather satellites. This the the kind of debris field (much more spread out over time) that was shown in the movie Gravity with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
Even though it is built for the Rift, there is a non-VR mode you can call to see the simulation on your own computer. But if you have Google Cardboard, Gear VR, Zeiss VR One, or similar, you can play this and get an idea of what the demo is like. In the Rift it is really beautiful and just impressive in 3D.
Great narration, great visuals, and a lot of interesting information. This may be more the future of VR than games. Bin did a great job. For more of this kind of thing, be sure to see Drash's Titans of Space. It's a tour of our solar system and also has a non-VR mode (http://www.titansofspacevr.com/).
Enjoy! This one is a real pleasure!
