President John F. Kennedy came to Rice Stadium, September 12, 1962, to inspire the nation in the quest to reach the Moon. Jerry Woodfill was present as a Rice student. As a result of President Kennedy's message, Jerry joined NASA in June of 1965. For the Apollo Program, he was assigned the warning systems for both the Eagle and Columbia spacecraft. Jerry continues as a NASA employee at the Johnson Space Center in Housto after 45 years of government service. There, he recently presented a re-creation of the talk he heard JFK give that day in 1962 for youth and adults who attended the 2010, NASA Johnson Space Center Open House.
