Will an Emphasis on Vocational Education Help India Reap its Demographic Advantage?
According to Professor C K Prahalad, India must skill 500 million people by 2022 if it is to reap the 'demographic dividend' presented by its youthful population in an ageing world. Is vocational education the answer to this challenge? Is there a way to integrate vocational skills in the school curriculum, or are there social pressures that will have to be overcome first to make this happen?
