Welcome to our 2011 Epic Bike Ride. We planned this trip as something special to close out the summer. We went from Frostburg to the Keystone Viaduct along the Great Alleghany Passage. The original plan had us turning around at Deal a journey of almost 20 miles. Once at Deal though, I noticed on the map that the 919 foot long Keystone Viaduct was only another 5 miles up the trail. Whats another 10 miles? We came this far, it would be a shame to turn around now. We went through the Borden Tunnel (957.5 '), the Big Savage Tunnel (3294.6') and over the Eastern Continental Divide the highest point on the GAP Trail at 2392'. "It's all downhill from there!"
The song I picked for this is Robert Earl Keen's "Ride". Just seems to fit!

OBTW Our girls are 7 and 9.

Edit to add..We were about halfway though the Big Savage Tunnel when the great earthquake of 2011 hit. The lights flickered and you could hear a rumbling that was it. I didn't even think earthquake until I got a text from my wife when we got back in cell range at the Keystone Viaduct I thought it was the strip mine on the other side of the valley.
