American Express and Tribeca Film Present: My Movie Pitch - Vote for STEALING HISTORY starting JUNE 25th!
STEALING HISTORY is historical fiction regarding one man's entanglement in the events leading up to the Iraq War.
It's not the story of 9/11 or of loss as a result of the event. Rather Stealing History is a year and a half ride of action and drama beginning when Desert Storm Veteran, Raymond Hernandez, in a attempt to change his life, takes advantage of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 by robbing the downtown Manhattan bank where he works. Besides the money, Raymond unknowingly takes articles from the safety deposit box of a powerful stolen arts dealer.
Months later, tracked down by that same stolen arts dealer Raymond is blackmailed to joining a team of mercenarys in Iraq whose objective is to rob the National Museum of Art during the chaotic atmosphere of the approaching U.S. bombing campaign.
Stealing History is the full circle of karma for Raymond as he and the crew of mercenarys come to the crossroads as everything goes wrong leading up to the mission and the war. It's also the voices of Baghdad life for the citizens and foreign workers who for seven months lived day to day life through the anxiety of impending war.
