A time lapse video showing the creation of "Hilbert Curve", an egg in the Big Egg Hunt Dublin 2013. This is a fundraising event for the Jack & Jill Children's Foundation. The design is based on a mathematical concept developed by the German mathematician David Hilbert in 1891, a variant of the space filing curves developed by Giuseppe Peano in 1890. For my design I drew a pattern of Hilbert Curves over the surface of a cube, in such a way that they would form one continuous line. Then I distorted this pattern over the curved surface of the egg. The egg (supplied by the Big Egg Hunt) is made of fibre glass and is light yet surprisingly sturdy due to its well designed base. 100 artists and high profile personalities were asked to create artistic eggs, that will then be used to promote the fund raiser. At the end of the event the eggs will be auctioned off to raise funds for Jack & Jill. Check out the online auction (and bid!) @ http://thebigegghunt.ie/
