Futaba's unique depth of experience with spread spectrum technology prepared FASST equipment for successful performance from the start. The system Speck represents has repeatedly needed changes — presented as new features — to correct problems FASST never had.

The Speck system added "Satellite Receivers" to address signal reception difficulties; developed a "Flight Log" to track receiver malfunctions; added LEDs to count lockouts and indicate brownouts; and created "QuickConnect with Brownout Detection" to deal with slow reconnect times.

While marine racers were racking up wins with standard FASST receivers, Speck engineers had to design a special receiver for use on water. Next they returned to the drawing board to create "R/C's first carbon-fiber-specific" 2.4GHz receivers. Meanwhile, all FASST full-range receivers continued working perfectly well in carbon-fiber installations.

FASST systems have always been safe and dependable — in all applications, in crowded environments, without special-purpose receivers or post-glitch warning devices. Futaba remains the real innovator in reliable radio-control.
