Seraph in Travail's debut music video, The Dawning Night (Free MP3 Download available at reverbnation.com/seraphintravail)

Before the storm, before the day of the last death
Apollyon assembled his lords to stand against you
For all their wisdom, do they not know
Their kingdoms are torn, shorn for the slaughter

Under whose reign for centuries past
The upright have obtained
For virtue, violence
For mercy, scorn
Their cry goes up, how long?

How long will you wait to avenge us?
Our blood cries out from the ground

Before you strike, before you darken the sky
Paint your blood on my door to abate the angels of death
For the dawning night will dub sable bright
When the prince of light removes his lampstand

From those who in his name
Corrupted and enslaved, freely exchanging
For virtue, violence
For mercy, scorn
To them he will say,
"I have never known your names"

How long will you wait to avenge us?
Our blood cries out from the ground

Until you resheath your sword
In your foe's spinal cord
Rip the flesh from the bone
Lift the truth from the lies
Until your archers draw
And your cataphracts charge
And your vengeance is unfurled before your enemies' eyes

Before your enemies' eyes

Seraph in Travail is:
Jonathan Sutherland - Vocals
Joe Bonner - Guitar
Tim Carey - Guitar
Steve Schaffer - Bass
Alex Kobylkevich - Drums

What has become Seraph in Travail was conceived in 2008 by guitarist Joe Bonner and vocalist Jon Sutherland with the goal of creating epic, symphonic metal with a crushing edge. An overview of the early years of the project reads more like a laboratory journal of the development and refining of a sound than it does the history of a band. The duo struggled with numerous lineups that failed to realize their creative vision until in 2012 when drummer Alex Kobylkevich joined Seraph and the band recorded and produced their EP, Achieved in Flatline. Meanwhile, demos of the band's material reached the ears of bassist Steve Schaffer and guitarist Tim Carey, who immediately joined the band. Within a month of the lineup solidifying, Seraph began live presentations in their Philadelphia-area stomping grounds, promoting and seeking review of the EP. At this time the band is composing new material that aims to present a maturation and further refinement of their sound on Achieved in Flatline.
