Initially made for readers of http://www.isgp.nl. Shortened podcast #195. Focus on Marcus' Ibogaine trip. Includes one of his first Syrian Rue + mushrooms trips (48:53) and a few comments on Ayahuasca. (18:43) Awesome miniature speech.
I included a brief explanation on the different Iboga/Ibogaine varieties available and how to extract TA Ibogaine from Iboga rootbark. Very little info available on that, so thought it might come in handy.
Although it is really great that heroin users have a way out, Ibogaine is NOT an anti-addictive medical drug - that's just a welcome side effect. Primarily it's a plant/tree used to initiate a spiritual, shamanic journey and can be insightful and benificial to anyone.
------------- HOW TO (AT YOUR OWN RISK) -------------
With 50 gram Iboga rootbark:
1) Mix 75 ml of vinegar with 225 ml distilled water.
2) Add this to the powdered rootbark. Stir thoroughly.
3) Let this sit for an hour. (some pre-soak it up to 24 hours)
4) Filter this through a T-shirt or coffee filter.
5) Repeat these steps several times. Some say 2 times more. Others say 6-9 times and claim excellent yields.
6) Each extract should be made basic with ammonia at the rate of 3 ml of 25-30% ammonia, or 18 ml of 5% ammonia, for each 50 grams of root.
Alternate explanation: Add ammonia until the vinegar/water solution starts to become cloudy. The alkaloids will start to precipitate.
7. Filter the solids, clean with distilled water, and let it dry.
8. Crush the dry solids. The result is powdered TA Ibogaine extract.
This is a 40-60% pure form of Ibogaine and related alkaloids, designated "TA". This form keeps intact the original, complete experience that the rootbark will give while at the same time greatly reducing discomfort in the form of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It's still far from an easy ride though.
It's possible to further reduce the TA into virtually pure Ibogaine HCL (hydrochloric) extract. This is more for the chemists under us and seemingly has little to no benefits over TA. In fact, at least one user who used all three variants (root bark, TA and HCL) preferred TA. It was the most comfortable and the deepest experience.

http://www.cerberusextract.com reportedly has the strongest rootbark. Ibogaworld is said to have the weakest rootbark, is the most expensive by far and don't try to cancel an order - even it has not been shipped to you yet. http://www.maya-ethnobotanicals.com has great service and good prices, not forgetting that Iboga/Ibogaine is ridiculously overpriced in general.
However, consider buying straight TA. Unless the rootbark is very strong, it may not be worth it making this stuff yourself. I only got just over half a gram of TA out of 20 grams of Ibogaworld rootbark. 80% of the alkaloids were in the first pull, 15% in the second, 5% in the third, absolutely nothing in the fourth. Even at double the potency values, it is about as expensive to buy TA in some places.
The after effects of the 0.5 gram (which I drank with water) still lasted 24 to 48 hours, but the effective part of the trip lasted only 4 hours or so instead of 8+. They were also not particularly intense. Very nice "high" though. Very soft and gentle. Zero nausea, except in the days after the trip from the supersweet fairytale mental state it seemed to have brought me into. But higher doses are needed to go deeper.
Still, best start at lower doses to get your body/system used to the plant. A second or third time you are much better able to handle larger doses.
Remember that a tiny fraction of Iboga users don't wake up from their experience, usually due to some sort of allergic reaction. I do it alone without supervision, but that's really not the preferred way to go, especially if you have used hard drugs or maybe even if you don't eat that healthy.
