Kg Kiding is a village located in Mambong constituency, less than 2 hours away from Kuching, Sarawak. The Kg Kiding village road project is an achievement for Impian Sarawak, as it is the first time we have completed a road project...
The local villagers have to walk 3km to a road that's accessible by motorbikes and 4WD vehicles. The farmer have to walk that distance to go sell their produce at the market and the schoolchildren walk 3km each way to and from school daily. For those lucky enough to stay at the school hostel, they still have to walk that distance on the weekends. The villagers' request for a road has been turned down repeatedly by the Government, the reason being that the road would cost up to RM10 million to build.
We started the project on in May and completed it in July. With a budget of RM140,000, sponsorship of heavy machinery, 53 volunteers from Semenanjung and Sarawak as well as the villagers, Impian Sarawak successfully completed the 3-km village road, complete with several bridge crossings. The road will benefit 60 families in Kg Kiding as well as another 20 families in neighbouring Kg Kakas.
To celebrate the completion of the road project, we will be holding an Impian Kiding Run to also commemorate Malaysia Day on 16th September. We call upon all Malaysians to take part in the run. The views at this off-the-beaten-track location are awe-inspiring and is well-known to mountain hikers.
