Vashisth, the Guru of Ram, now invites "Lord Agni" for his presence; and orders Ram to get the water from the river himself, and seek blessings of his mothers, father in law and saints, and commence the Yagna. Laxman is called upon by Ram; and hands over the "horse" to him. The head of horse carries a message that if anyone has any objection to the rule of Ram; he will have to fight with the army of Ram and prove himself right. If the horse is seized; the opposition has to fight Ram's army; and if he leaves the horse, he accepts the thoughts and rule of Ram. Laxman is given the honour to go with the army and the loose left horse; and till he returns, the Yagya will continue in Ayodhyaya. See the event superbly presented by Ramanand Sagar in his serial "Luv Kush" or "Uttar Ramayana."
