It starts with a spark, an idea, a moment. It's where yearning meets its long-lost lover. We all experience it daily. The moment when the smell of the aroma catches our nose with the first drop of coffee. The way we scan the aisle for a bottle of wine and when we find that perfect bottle we could have sworn that the lettering on the label was made perfectly just for us. How did that wine call to me? Create a deep almost emotional connection with me? This is the love story we're obsessed with. Brands that find their lovers. We don't just buy products, we fall in love with them.
The love story starts with an experience as it is a collection of points at which companies exchanged sensory stimuli. These exchanges may be transactional for instance when a product is delivered to you personally and the first step is taken and when meaningful information is shared between you and another company you are connected emotionally from here on out.
The best brands use the same seemingly minor contact points think about it. You enter into your favorite restaurant with your friends and the host remembers your name. Now you're feeling cool. The best brands know that by these small interactions they'll have you hooked and coming back time and time again.
With the noise of products trying to win over the heart of brand followers, how does a brand keep its lover loyal and engaged? People don't just buy products but they buy their love story.
