In this video, a first time clicker trainer trains a pony who has never been clicker trained.

The pony is nervous about being caught, though she is wearing a halter. The student first teaches the pony to target her hand, then works up to putting one hand on the pony's face, then two hands on the halter strap, then removes the halter.

The pony leaves immediately and seems not to want to interact with the girl. But, when offered the halter as a target, the pony continues the training session eagerly.

After the pony is targeting the halter consistently, the student pets the pony on the neck, then offers her the opportunity to target as a reward, then she earns a click and treat. The student then reaches over the ponies neck and clicks and treats several times for the pony standing still and allowing the student to stand over her.

Eventually the student wiggles the halter up the pony's nose, but she doesn't buckle it just then. To earn even more of the ponies trust, she lets the halter drop, and clicks and treats a few more times at this stage.

Lastly, she buckles the halter, holds on to it for a second, then takes the halter off and leaves the pony to think.

The pony spent the next hour watching the student intently as she worked with other horses, clearly excited for the next round of training.

Both student and pony show an excellent aptitude for clicker training and are fast learners.
