Jim Curry, vice president and general manager at Rackspace Cloud Developers, discusses the importance of open cloud standardization to the future of technology, including work taking place within OpenStack.
OpenStack is a project launched by Rackspace, in conjunction with NASA, to create a set of standard open source technology specifications across the complete hardware stack. It intends to foster true interoperability for customers, allow flexibility for deployments and migrations, and also speed collaborative innovation for developers using identical foundations.
OpenStack comprises more than 200 contributing organizations, including Red Hat. Red Hat's experience with open source solutions, plus growing cloud adoption and need for easy interoperability, can only lead to continued growth and interest in the OpenStack community.
