Hiya, Idol fans! This is Jager from http://www.wetpaint.com, and I'm here to talk about why losing American Idol doesn't have to be a total downer. (We're talkin' to you, Paul McDonald!)

The world -- and by world, I mean Facebook and Twitter -- is still not over the elimination of Pia Toscano. But rest easy, Pia sympathizers. With some assistance from Billboard.com, I'm here to reassure fans that sometimes losing can really pay off. Let's look at five of the most successful Idol non-winners.

First up, Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer only placed 7th in Season 3 of Idol, but her two hit albums and her Golden Globe and Oscar wins for Dreamgirls are pretty nice consolation prizes. And look at her now-- FABULOUS!

David Archuleta was runner-up to David Cook in Season 7, but Archuleta's debut album and his single "Crush" were both more successful than Cook's first album and single. What's up now, Cook?

Sixth place probably didn't seem like so much fun to Kellie Pickler in Season 5, but her two albums -- Small Town Girl and Kellie Pickler -- both reached #1 on the country charts and #9 on the Billboard 200. Taylor Swift even co-wrote Kellie's hit single "Best Days of Our Lives." Who needs Idol when you've got Taylor?

Clay Aiken didn't lose out on too much by being Season 2 runner-up. Whether you're a fan or not, Clay's had success in TV and theater, and has had five Top 200 albums, the most of any Idol alum.

Chris Daughtry made many a girl's heart go aflutter in Season 5, but he only finished in fourth place. Bummer. Good thing he's sold more albums than any Idol alum other than Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. 2007's Daughtry and 2009's Leave This Town were both at the top of the Billboard 200.

That about wraps it up. If you want more Idol, visit http://www.wetpaint.com/American-Idol for all the latest gossip, speculation, news, and videos. See ya!
