The aim of ATRACO ( Adaptive and Trusted Ambient Ecologies) project was to contribute to the realization of Ambient Intelligence, in particular how ecologies of interactive appliances, collaborative devices, context aware artefacts and network services might be be managed by users in the furtherance of future high-tech lifestyles. Ambient ecologies form the infrastructure that supports user activities, with each activity being modelled as a "bubble" having finite resources to achieve the goals of its owner and having clearly marked borders, which realize the privacy requirements. Ulm University (Germany), University of Essex (UK), Research Academic Computer Technology Institute (Greece), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - LIMSI (France), inAccess Networks (Greece). ATRACO was funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) as part of the FET Pervasive Adaptation (PERADA) initiative.
