If you can be "brainwashed" by a stranger on the street, a friend or a coworker, I guess in your case it only takes a light rinse. I was once "shakabukied" by a Nichiren Buddhist while sitting on my own porch, but after attended a few services and meetings, I decided it wasn't for me. I didn't have to go in the first place, but I was curious. That is how rational people respond instead of whining about being brainwashed. If you don't want to listen, walk away.

A cult is merely a religion disapproved of by the speaker. There is no real difference. We can agree that if your faith tells you to give them all your money and shun your family, it is probably not a healthy thing, but then even the Christian Gospels have verses to that effect. Luckily most mainstream Christians put them in context and live normal lives.

There is only one thing that separates religion from a cult: numbers.
