The "Original Texans" is a monumental marble sculpture of a west Texas buffalo and calf by Doug Scott. This is the largest quarried block of marble ever sculpted in America. The size of this work is 4.5 ft wide x 9 ft high x 12.5 ft long. The ruff block weighed 72,000 pounds and had to be transported by special permit on a multi-axle heavy hauler. It's permanent home is West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. The medium is an earth-tone brown marble called "Vista Grande Onyx."
