A request by KillerYandere. If there was a sequel to Van Helsing, calling it Redemption would have two meanings. First off, it would be I think an interesting idea to have Helsing separated from his life of monster slaying, seeking redemption first by renouncing violence and then by one last mission, perhaps to fight The Devil himself. Second of all, although Van Helsing was a very entertaining movie, the special effects kind of devoured the characters and story towards the end, leaving it on a tad of a hollow note. Actually the new movie Solomon Cane, which I drew from primarily for this trailer, is to me a fine spiritual successor of Van Helsing. Solomon Cane features a taciturn monster hunter haunted by his past, but unlike Van Helsing it appears the story isn't afraid to take itself seriously, which I appreciate in a fantasy/horror story. Also given the smaller budget Solomon Cane perhaps will be less concerned with flashy effects and focus on the plot and characters. Its too early to say, but at least I'm excited to see how it comes along. Other movies I used were Brotherhood of the Wolf, Sherlock Holmes, The Wolfman (2009), and scenes from the rather excellent Van Helsing video game.
