Facebook is the best way to meet people without the awkward running up to someone on the street situation. There are tons of groups on there about say for example Irish people living in Australia. It was great when I moved to Italy. I met some friends for life :) love your videos.

Wait... so you mean it is normal or saay less awkward in Korea to just go up to people and meet them like we used to meet people on the playground? Just go like "Hey I'm new here, what's your name?" and "How old are you?" and stuff like that? Because if that's true - that's pretty cool, I always wished this was normal or at least not weird where I live, then I would've approached so many people already.

leave an agenda on the underground, put your email and contact details on it on the first page, make it look like its important and whenever they contact you to return it, invite them to whatever. a japanese girl did it to me in london with both the agenda and her scarf
