THE STREETS OF QUEENS HAVE THE BANKSY SPHINX...

Footage of the dismantling starts at 1:50. This video begins with still shots taken right before a truck showed up to haul the piece away.

It was only a matter of time it would fall directly into the hands of auction houses or dealers that would come and wrongfully scoop it up. In my eyes the streets of Queens claimed this piece and a local shop saved the day by keeping it from being sold for a quick buck. If they decide to keep it or sell it, either way, The locals will decide the fate of this piece. Besides, they need the $ more anyway. And now they know what they really have. Art by Banksy is sadly out of reach to real fans to view or own these days. The people Banksy makes the art for don't even get to enjoy it because of greed, haters or a price tag. But in this case the streets won. For now, at least until they flip it.

"No turn unstoned. A 1/36 scale replica of the great Sphinx of Giza made from smashed cinderblocks. You're advised not to drink the replica Arab spring water."

"Unless someone records it, it's all finished and it's over..." (quote by Evan Mannell)

SADLY NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE GOT TO SEE THIS INSTALLATION IN ACTION.
