Maine's affordable housing sector plays a vital role in creating jobs and driving economic growth in the state of Maine. State and federal programs such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit are crucial, not only because they address the growing need for affordable homes for Maine people, but because they provide employment for thousands of Maine people.

Doing Well by Doing Good examines the economic impact of affordable housing development in Maine through interviews with a wide range of local stakeholders: from private-sector CEOs, to contractors on work sites, to a subcontractor who is also a resident of an affordable housing property in Freeport. Companies and organizations interviewed in this film include Wright-Ryan Construction, Hancock Lumber, Portland Builders and Penquis.

The Maine Affordable Housing Coalition is a diverse coalition of more than 100 public and private sector organizations, with a mission to raise public awareness and advance solutions that create and preserve affordable housing in Maine.
