Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania have destroyed tumors in three leukemia patients, each in three weeks, using genetically modified T-cells, according to articles published yesterday in the New England Journal of Medicine and Science Translational Medicine. The scientists removed samples of the patients' T-cells and used a lentivirus vector to modify them to attack cells that express the protein CD19, which includes cancer cells. Source: Science Daily
