Sainik School Bijapur Hosts Southern Sainik Schools' Tournament
Inter Sainik Schools' South Zone Tournament will be held at Sainik School Bijapur from 24 June to 29 June 2013.
The inauguration of the tournament will be held at 3.30 pm on Monday, 24 June 2013. Bijapur city MLA Dr. Maqbool Bagwan has consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The opening ceremony will include march past of the participating teams and oath taking. It will be followed by the first round of matches in various disciplines. There will also be competitions in co-curricular activities such as Debate and quiz. The participating players will showcase their histrionic talent in the variety entertainment programme. Besides these, SPIC MACAY is organising a concert in which Carnatic maestro GJR Krishnan, son of internationally renowned violinist Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman will enthrall the players by his violin recital at 6.30 pm on 27 June 2013. This week long tournament will culminate with the closing ceremony at 3.30 pm on 29 June 2013.
The tournament will include matches in various sports disciplines such as basketball, football, hockey and volleyball. The winning teams of Football and Hockey will play Inter Zonal matches at all India level among Sainik Schools. The champion Football team amongst Sainik Schools will take part in Subroto Cup Football tournament which is held annually at Delhi. The Hockey winner will participate in prestigious Nehru Cup Hockey tournament to be held in Delhi later this year. Sainik School Bijapur Hockey team has brought laurels to the school by emerging winner amongst all Sainik Schools and participating in this prestigious tournament almost every year.
This year nearly 300 cadets from southern Sainik Schools are participating in this championship. Five teams from southern states- Sainik School Amaravatinagar from Tamil Nadu, Sainik School Kazhakootam from Kerala, Sainik School Korukonda from Andhra Pradesh, Sainik School Bijapur and Sainik School Kodagu from Karnataka are taking part in this competition.

As part of yearlong celebration of Golden Jubilee, Sainik School Bijapur is hosting national level 'Science exhibition' at its premises from 12-14 July, 2013. The exhibition will be inaugurated at 11 am on 12 July 2013. The exhibition will remain open for general public on the closing day- Sunday, 14 July 2013 from 9 am to 11 am. The exhibition is aimed at promoting the scientific outlook and kindling interest in fundamental science among the youth. The valedictory function will be held at 11.30 am on 14 July 2013.
On the occasion of Golden Jubilee celebration of Sainik School Bijapur, a number of manifold activities are being organised during this year-long celebration which was launched on 15-16 Sep 2012. A large number of dignitaries from various fields have graced the occasions. Musical fest by SPIC MACAY, cycle expeditions covering the entire Karnataka state, participation of cadets in mountaineering and river-rafting expedition, visit to Line of Control (LOC) and national level IPSC Table tennis tournament were organized during this Golden Jubilee year which will culminate with the closing ceremony scheduled in the month of September 2013.
CBSE board results of class X and XII of Sainik School Bijapur have been outstanding as 22 cadets secured 10 CGPA and the school has been able to secure excellence index of 100 in the class X board result this year. In keeping with the tradition of academic excellence, the school has achieved 100 % result in class X and XII board examination.
Sainik School Bijapur has made rapid strides in academics as well as sports in the recent years. During this Golden Jubilee year a number of projects have been undertaken to provide the best sports infrastructure in the state. The state government of Karnataka has shown keen interest in improving infrastructural facilities in Sainik School Bijapur. A new Indoor stadium is under construction for volleyball and basketball along with facilities for squash, table tennis, boxing and other indoor games. The stadium is expected to be ready by the end of August and it will be inaugurated in September 2013. The construction of an amphitheatre and outdoor stadium besides playfields for various outdoor games will be undertaken shortly. This rapid infrastructure development will transform the school to emerge as the best premier institution in the state.
