This is an excerpt of a performance -- entitled 'je m'appelle Delilah -- at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, in which I was very kindly joined by my dear friend D. Katherine Griggs.
It took place on 11 September 2016, as part of the inaugural event of the Berlin Hub of the European Graduate School, where i had the pleasure, honour, of reading alongside Julian Gough and Hubertus von Amelunxen.
This performance attempts to meditate on — explore — the space, place, of Delilah: not through analysis, or even through a reading of the book of Judges, but with an attempt to listen to a voice that is not there, or which perhaps has been erased. Thus, perhaps then a reading: as an opening — and here, more specifically — by opening the possibility that the relationship between Delilah and Samson is a space of love.
[with many thanks and much appreciation to Yan Gi Cheng for so very kindly filming this segment]
