Surveillance video shows a man shooting at off-duty St. Louis Police Sgt. Charles Lowe as he worked a security job in the Central West End on July 14, 2015. The officer was in a car when another vehicle pulled up and a man got out and shot at him. Lowe was hit in the side but saved by his bullet-resistant vest. Two men, gunman Dale "Butch" Wolford and driver Edward J. Davis, were sentenced in 2018 to decades in prison for the crime.
