Bench pressing the regular way of lowering the bar up & down is a good way of building bigger chest muscles but if you want a faster and more effective way to get a bigger chest then...

Pausing on each rep (as shown in the video above) enables your muscles to do 100% of the work without the momentum taking away from your workout and if you don't believe me...

Use 70-to-80% of your max and see if you can still do the same number of reps.

I recommend that you do dumbbell bench presses instead with the pause rep method because you get that extra range of motion or stretch in your chest when doing dumbbell bench presses so when you pause at the end of each rep that just means you'll get an even greater chest workout.

Getting a bigger chest or a bigger muscle anywhere means making the muscle stronger and your muscle gets stronger thru work and if you limit the work of your chest muscles in the bench press by just bouncing the weight up and down off your chest using momentum then your chest simply will not be doing enough work as compared to when you use pause reps to make your chest do a lot more work.

Yeah the bouncing up and down may look impressive but do the boring pauses once in a while or all the time to really see an improvement in your chest musculature.

Treat pause bench press like regular bench presses in the way of getting more chest muscle mass by picking a weight that keeps you in that muscle growth range of 6-to-12 reps per set and do about 4-to-8 sets of that.
