This is a press conference with part of a delegation of protesters who took their cause to the nation's capital. The first three minutes is silent, but the camera pans the room. The speaker in the red suit (Pastor Darrel Beach) uses a quote from Pastor Henry Thaxton. The coal miner is protester Fred Harris. The man taking the questions is Pastor Ezra Graley.
See for yourself the people who protested in Kanawha County (1974).
In 1974 an event occurred in West Virginia that has been called the first shot in the Culture War (http://insectman.us/testimony/text-bo...). Bible believing Christians and their conservative allies brought national attention to the influx of anti-Christian and anti-American textbooks into the public schools. They were not able to stop the onslaught of academic sewage as this year 2000 video shows.
Note: These videos were pieced together from a hodge-podge of (sometimes out of sequence) segments from DVDs obtained from two sources. Probably all video is in the care of the West Virginia Archives. I tried to put the clips together in a way that presents the protesters as they were. No attempt was made to exclude anything.
I had to block comments on all of my videos because God-hating cowards would post anonymous, and often profane, tripe and vote my comments down.
