As much as ninety % or more of us are deficient in magnesium. Among girls the deficiency of Estrogen ( a bunch of hormones ) post menopause has been associated to a fast decrease in BMD. The elevated risk of falling related to aging, leads to breaks of the wrist, backbone and hip, and in numerous examples the decline is really due to the breaking of a bone when taking a step, particularly when stepping downward on stairs or stepping off porches. Other hormone deficiency states can cause osteoporosis ,eg testosterone deficiency.

Glucocorticoid or thyroxine excess states also lead to osteoporosis. Not eating foods loaded in Calcium, Vitamin D and Phosphorous may also cause bone loss. Calcium and / or vitamin D deficiency from starvation also increases the danger of osteoporosis. Some drugs can suppress the bodys capability to take in calcium. This may result in the bones to weaken. These medicines include cortisone / corticosteroids, anticoagulants, thyroid additions, and some anti-convulsive drugs.
