Swells on A Fork saddles were originally made by rolling up a slicker or bedroll and tying it across the back of the fork just behind the horn. The John Clark Saddlery of Portland Oregon patented their bucking rolls in 1901. Today the wade saddle is very popular among horseman and most of the riders use bucking rolls - The tradition of bucking rolls continues.
