www.johneoden.com--An advocate for the sport of boxing and a competitive white collar boxer himself, John E. Oden is the author of White Collar Boxing—One Mans Journey from the Office to the Ring published in 2005. The release was so successful his follow up title Life in the Ring is due In September of 2009. To date John has participated in 19 competitive white collar bouts. He has fought three times in the UK. On one occasion in in London in 2004, Hall of Fame Trainer Emanuel Steward trained John for a white collar boxing match at Hedge Fund Fight Night. Steward also worked his corner for the match.

John's victories in the ring are only paralleled by his success in the board room. As a principal at AllianceBernstein L.P., a global money management and investment research firm, he is a senior member on the money management side of the company, and has played a meaningful role in the firms business and expansion in the U.S., Europe and Asia. John was formerly managing director of institutional accounts at Cushman & Wakefield, where he also co-managed two foreign joint ventures, with Healey & Baker in London, and Mitsubishi Trust & Banking Corporation in Japan. He was a partner in investment banking at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc., and also served as executive vice president of Drexel Burnham Realty.

On several occasions, John has served as the master of ceremonies for fight nights at the New York Athletic Club. Recognizing boxing as a positive outlet for aggression and as a good way of teaching sportsmanship, he was instrumental in starting the first boxing program in the New York City school system at the Archimedes Academy in the Bronx. In honor of his participation and advocacy for academics, the program is called John E. Oden Boxing Scholars

John is a board member of the Merchants House Museum in New York City, and sits on the investment committees of Southwestern University and the St. Georges Society. He served as a trustee for the Manhattan School of Music for many years, where he chaired the committee responsible for building the schools first-ever dormitory. A former president of the University of Texas Alumni Association of New York, he holds B.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin
