Learn how Cape Town ceramicist and west elm collaborator Chris Silverston started her career and the inspiration behind her art in this west elm video.

Chris began creating ceramics decades ago and in 1986 she began selling her creations. Four years later she expanded her shop into a studio where she began training local artists.

The Potter's Workshop combines Chris's expertise with local artists' culture and artistic backgrounds to create unique ceramics and pottery that west elm brings into your home. The dotted designs of the ceramics and pottery are reminiscent of traditional South African beadwork and much of their inspirations come from the region's features. Artist Sibongile Siboma explains that he taps into nature to let the patterns and colors inspire him. Because each artist's personality is reflected in their work, the creations from the Potter's Workshop are one-of-a-kind accessories.
