Cal Aldrink, (original owner of the facility now available for public use) shares the story behind the cross on the Grand River near Grand Valley State University (Now THE NORTH RAVINES COUNTRY PARK). Cal was videotaped by Norm Rasmussen on October 19, 2005.
Cal Aldrink passed away a few years back, and the property the cross was located on was sold to the county. The county has now turned the property into a County Park for all to enjoy (Grand River Ravine Park). Because of legalities, the cross was torn down and is no more. Cal shared with me that if the cross were ever to be torn down, it was his prayer that OTHER property owners along the Grand River might place a cross on THEIR property/properties as a reminder of what God accomplished for them by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, as an atonement for our sins, that we might be restored to God with His fullest forgiveness and blessings.
