I've started doing youtube shorts, as a way of hopefully recording some of my cluttering. Cluttering is really tough to record, because cluttered speech usually changes as soon as the tape recorder is started.

This is me talking about a Benedictine monastery that I drove by on a recent trip to New Mexico.

What I wanted to say was:

I drove by this monastery earlier, and I'm driving by again to take a closer look. I hope that it's the same monastery that I found on the internet a few months ago. If it is, it's really cool, because for a sixty dollar donation per day, you can stay with the monks for a few days and have an enjoyable vacation. I think that would be a really cool vacation.

This place is dark, and the name, "Benedictine Monastery," doesn't ring a bell, so it's probably not the same place. I'll have to look it up on the internet when I get home.

What I did say was:

So there's a monastery here that I wanted to um...visit sometime.

Well I, I don't know where it is but there's um there's this monastery that I drove by um and I'm actually backtracking, so I'll drive I'll drive by it again, and we'll be able to see it.

It's probably not that impressive at night. Um but well, um backing up the there's' there's this monastery that I looked up on the internet and um it's somewhere in New Mexico. And it's a Benedictine monastery but it's uh it's called like the Monastery of Something or I don't remember what it was but um [sigh] but anyway I I drove by this um I drove by this monastery and um it's coming up here in a minute or two.

And and it is a Benedictine monastery but it just says Benedictine Monastery like um like maybe that's the name of it is the Benedictine Monastery

But, um, anyway it it said that um the main that way you can support the monastery is by um using it for a hotel, like um the they charge like sixty bucks a night, and um, and you can um and you can stay there, um, pray with them in the morning, and um and get breakfast, too. So. Hopefully it's coming up here pretty soon. Because otherwise this will be a very very long video.

Uh, Medical Center.

Okay, In the in the background, if your eyes are really good, then you might be able to see the monastery.

Oh, there it is right there.

So this is probably really bad video, but at least the sound's good.

And it just says, "poss"

Oh, and there's the main entrance.

So anyway, that was the monastery that I told you about, and um, it's a few miles outside of um Pecos, New Mexico.

A couple things about this I thought were interesting:
*I meant to express that "even though you may not be able to see the monastery in this video, at least I was playing a good song on the radio, so you had something to listen to," but instead I just said, "this is probably really bad video, but at least the sound's good."
*One tactic I've learned to clutter less is to extend out words like "and," and also to use words like "um" or "like" instead of repetitions. I think it's better to say, "I...um...want to go to the store," instead of "I...I...I want...I want to go to the store."
