It was torture to cut up this video as I had 20+ minutes of good shots. I was going to call it "Bart catches Air" for all the jumping but the the current title is more of an attention getter and "catching air" was not enough to Honor the incredible performance by the Working Man's Champ Bart Gillespie. The amazing speed & mad skills of his competition like USGP leader Ali "socks" Goulet, State Champ Eric "Rico" Rasmussen, Awesome MTBers Alex Grant & Jason Sager, Powerful Reed Wycoff, Honorary Local & Idaho stud Sam Krieg, USA national's Conner O'Leary, and several other contending elite riders make each of Bart's wins all the more impressive. There was a rumor that he might take it easy before racing "La Ruta" in Costa Rica but instead he jumped nearly everything in sight.

For those old enough to remember the original 70's show "happy days", the expression comes from when the coolest guy Fonzi jumped over a shark on his motorcycle. It has become the Hollywood term for going way too far over the top to the point of ridiculousness. Certainly not the case here as Bart was over the top in a good way! The skills and conditioning required to be able to pull off his consecutive jumps for positive effect is truly something to behold. Unfortunately Ali had a mechanical as he was right with Bart until that point, but he still put on a show after in the chase to still have a top 10 finish. Cost to see a CX race, $0. Chance to see some of the best athletes in the world go at it, Priceless!

Really great to see such tight competition pushing Bart to "jump the shark" : )
