Pavane (Rhythmic Suite), by Robert Elmore. The son of American Baptist Churches-USA missionaries to India, Robert Elmore was a church musician and concert organist who spent his career teaching and serving churches in the Philadelphia area. This performance of Pavane makes use of the many orchestral strings and their matching undulant stops of the Swell, Solo and Celestial divisions of the organ, as well as the Corno di Bassetto, Tibia, Glockenspiel and Harmonic Flute. It comes from a larger work, Rhythmic Suite, which was groundbreaking in its day, for integrating jazz idioms into a "classical" organ work.
