Athens: Coexistence of Memory and Modernity
NEW DATE: summer 2017 (June 25th - July 6th)

In this program we explore the city of Athens and the layers of history left by the passage of time, from a prehistoric settlement to the present modern city, while also investigating how Athenians deal with the challenges of preserving their extensive cultural heritage, both ancient and new.

The lecturers and tour leaders are all experts in their fields and have been there, on the ground, involved in the study, conservation and management of these monuments, such as Manolis Korres, who was chief architect for the Acropolis Restoration Project for over twenty years, also Fani Mallouchou-Tufano, who was head of the recording office for the Acropolis restoration Project, Alexandra Christopoulou, who is deputy director of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, and more.
