The double swaddle keeps baby's arms tucked tight after they are able to "escape" other swaddles. Our baby sleeps through the night now! This is also a good swaddle because it splays the hips. Dr Sears warns against binding babies' hips because it could hinder proper development. We use a muslin swaddle blanket by Aden & Anais, but we've found it can also be done with one by Happy Green Bee or any other large stretchy blanket. We tuck the baby into a Halo sleep sack so there are no loose blankets which can endanger baby. We learned this technique from Ann Keppler, RN, MN, co-author of Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn, co-facilitator of the First Weeks and Next Months programs at Birth & Beyond in Seattle.
