More than 200 children built a playhouse for a needy family of eight children during their vacation bible school week with the First Christian Church of Midland.
Rev. Mike Hunter and Rev. Paula Brooks said they wanted the children to understand the true nature of giving to others so they could more closely walk with Jesus.
Volunteers from the church's Christmas In Action helped the vacation bible school children construct an elaborate playhouse from scratch. Children sawed, nailed, painted and screwed all week to present the house to Maria Barnes, 65, and her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
