'Fatigue management' involves operators and their pilots taking steps to ensure that increasing levels of fatigue do not result in a risk to safety.
On 30 April 2013 CASA introduced new rules to promote the safe management of fatigue in pilots. The new rules better reflect modern flying conditions, scientific understanding of human performance limitations, and advances in technology.
There is also a booklet on our Online Store covering the legislation applicable to flight crew and the broader overview of fatigue and its impact on aviation safety, available at http://shop.casa.gov.au/collections/b...
Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) -- 'Safe skies for all'
CASA regulates civil aviation safety in Australia and the operation of Australian aircraft outside Australian territory. We license pilots, register aircraft, oversee safety and promote safety awareness. CASA is also responsible for ensuring Australian airspace is administered and used safely.
