Ben Uri, The London Jewish Museum of Art's exhibition Boris Aronson and the Avant-garde Yiddish Theatre, c. 1917-1929 opened on 18 April 2013. It explored the avant-garde costume and theatre designs of Ukrainian-born Jewish émigré painter, sculptor, set designer, theorist and art critic, Boris Aronson (1898-1980), a pioneer at the forefront of the international modernist movement. The exhibition included more than 50 rare, original and little-known works on paper together with a small number of works by Aronson's peers (Natan Altman, Isaak Brodsky, Marc Chagall, Alexandra Exter, Issachar Ber Ryback, Pavel Tchelitchew) and related ephemera. Aronson went on to be a Tony award-winning Broadway designer in New York. The exhibition is featured here on the Ben Uri Website: http://www.benuri.org.uk/public/?even...
