My second favorite Pink Floyd album, and the last truly great record in their discography (in my opinion). Released in 1977 and followed by a highly stressful tour which really brought out the worst in the band members personalities, Animals stands out in m mind as the beginning of the end for Floyd.

Loved the review! However, this was Waters in full power not Gilmour :)

Agreed in full

This record has David's best guitar work
Juan Pablo Grajales Canseco
All songs were written by Roger Waters, except for animals, which was Waters/Gilmour... So wtf with your "David wrote most of the songs"?
Juan Pablo Grajales Canseco
But Gilmour is still a fantastic guitar player.

animals as the wall had to be different as they were going through the punk era

Doing The Math...Punk Floyd+The 1970s/Late 1960s=Weird...Which Is Good...Theyd Be Bloody Boring If They And Umma Gumma Wasn't Weird/Strange...Etc...That's Just The Sound Of 1977...I Was 8 At The Time...I Think It And Wish U Were Here Were Better Records Than Dark Side For The Moon...Which Was A Splendid Record...But A But Too Commercial Too Soon...It Was Only 1972 When They Began Work On The Record...It Want Dark Enough[No Pun Intended]...The Album Before It...The REALLY Overlooked Pink Floyd Record:Obscured By Clouds Was To Me A Better Album...I Wish That First Track On It Was About 3 Minutes Longer~It Was Bloody Wicked...

2 More Bloody Ignoramus/Morons/Dislikes And Counting...

This In My Opinion Is The Last Good Record They Ever Released...I Understand 1979 Was Closing Out The 1970s~And The Change With The Times Rubbish~But Still~The Wall Was A Bit Too Commercial...I Prefer Everything From: Animals Back Down To Saucerful Of Secrets...And Maybe Piper At The Gates Of Dawn...

The song writing / Lyrics was pretty much all Roger Waters (The Bass Player) - Gilmour sang oftentimes though (his imput was musical only - by his own admission, and even then, he's often adding to song (bass) lines that Waters has already structured) Animals was Floyd at their most "Spinal Tap '70s Rock Superstar" in that they never even met in studio - it's said (by band members) that they arrived (in limos) on seperate days to listen and record their own parts etc (the whole album was made this way - they wern't getting on so well at this point) ....Amazing then that this album is as fucking great as is so obviously is!

you should make more reviews, you're good at it and you're a cool guy. I dont fully agree with you as a musicain or studio producer, but I do like hearing what you have to say because you do know what you're talking about

"Dramatic!" That's a perfect way to describe Gilmour's guitar solos. Dramatic!!!

I remember when Animals came out in 1977, heard it as a kid , my bro had the album... still to this day its a great album.. Gilmour was in the zone back then.
