We are fortunate to have many screening tests that help identify diseases at an early stage when treatments are most effective. Currently though most individuals are screened using the same schedule and some folks get too many tests while others may get too few tests. Screening schedules tailored to an individual's risk level can be very beneficial as it can reduce harms from over testing and result in optimal use of health care resources. NIH funding is being used to develop models to assess the most costeffective approach to implement personalized screening.
