So Lana Del Rey is no stranger to awesome music videos—tons of old school Hollywood glamor, steamy scenes, and come on, when you're chillin with two full-size tigers, life is pretty awesome, right?
Well, the 26 year old songstress seems to have done it again with her most recent video for National Anthem.
The video premiered earlier today on VEVO, and it's chock-full of beautiful yet provocative imagery.
Like the title of the song, the video has a patriotic feel to it, using real life politics figures as the overarching theme.
It starts out in black and white with Lana as Marilyn Monroe.
She sings the classic "Happy Birthday Mr. President" to JFK, played by a fellow New Yorker-- rapper A$AP Rocky.
The video then transitions into color and we what we can assume are clips from the tragic 1963 motorcade incident, in which JFK was assassinated.
The video then cuts to a flashback, and we see Lana as a modern day Jackie O, living a happy and picture-perfect life with JFK and their two kids.
The video concludes by revisiting the motorcade assassination with Lana giving a heartfelt narrative which I certainly don't want to spoil for you guys—you'll just have to make sure you watch the video in its entirety by clicking the link in the description below.
Incase any of you are confused by the 8 minute long video, take comfort in the fact that ASAP Rocky doesn't expect you to get it just quite yet.
He told a German news outlet that he thinks the video is "...some cool, trippy sh**, some really 2015 sh**. People gonna get it in like three years, and that's the whole purpose of it."
And as for Lana, it seems like she's pretty pleased with the end result.
She said, "Every so often, I top what I've done, and this video is definitely the most beautiful thing I've ever done. I wrote a treatment for me and A$AP Rocky, because I just thought he'd be really perfect to star in it."
But for now, let me know if you're feeling this modern-day-take on the JFK and Jackie O relationship, all swagged up whatnot, or if you think these iconic political figures are best left out of music videos.
