"Jatrapother Anondogaan" ~ An Ode to the Journey

Thursday, September 15 · 9:00pm - 11:00pm

Location
Kozmo Banani
Plot 67/D Block E, Road 11, Banani
Dhaka, Bangladesh

Rabindranath Tagore was seized with a sense of wanderlust from a very young age -- a sense of restlessness that stayed with him till his last days. He often allegorized his wanderlust with the idea of birds, wings and flapping. It is therefore not surprising that he was a worshiper of the eternal traveler, of ceaseless motion and change as the very essence of life.

A related cluster of themes that comes repeatedly in Tagore's works is "Poth", "Pothik" and "Jatra" -- the Road, the Wanderer and the Journey. Life for him was a journey, the human being was the traveller and "God" a companion. "Jatra-poth" or the road to him was often a way to self realization, to "God", with death being a gateway in the journey to an eternal life thereafter.

Shumon Sengupta and Ananya Banerjee celebrate the "Spirit of the Journey" as they come to the close of a beautiful chapter of their lives -- of their glorious paths traveled in Bangladesh, before they move on to Laos.
