"The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em) was the first hit for The Greg Kihn Band in 1981. This is not the original version from 1981, but an alternate version. During the early 80's, new wave music was soaring in popularity and the classic rock "sound" was not as relevant unfortunately as it had been in year prior.

Fortunately, this awesome song not only brings back those catchy classic rock guitar riffs, but also brings back the good old days in it's lyrics. Greg Kihn is paralleling his recent breakup along with the notion that they don't write love songs like they did back in rock's golden ages.

Without a doubt, this song is one of the best from the 80's and anyone who loves classic rock & roll music can appreciate such awesome and most importantly true lyrics. I also referenced House of the Devil (the 2009 breakout horror flick that takes place and pays homage to 1970's/1980's horror movies) with pictures because the movie uses this song in it. The 80's did have some memorable music, but this song (even though it might not be as big as some other 80's songs) is definitely one of the more memorable ones for me. Greg Kihn: I like your radio show! You have great taste in music!
